Writers Room
The Arts Accelerator Writers Room is a monthly story development lab designed to help writers of all experience levels develop their work. It's modeled after a professional television writers' room, where writers share their works in progress, exchange feedback, and develop their ideas. The meetup runs from October to July, on the second Sunday of each month from 10 AM to 1 PM. The cost is $25 per session, and sessions are live and in-person at a location in South Florida.
Writers of all experience levels are welcome, from complete novices to professional writers. All you need is a laptop and a desire to write great stories! Space is limited and the workshop usually sells out, so register today.
Live Script Readings
Open calls for script, plays and other narrative writing. Up to ten minutes of each selected work is read live by local actors who are cast on the spot.
Performances are recorded and shared online to promote local talent. This event helps writers hear their work read aloud and helps actors practice cold reading and auditioning skills, benefiting both aspiring and experienced creatives.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses offer intensive, hands-on workshops for both aspiring and experienced creatives. Whether you're a filmmaker or screenwriter, these programs provide the tools and guidance to elevate your skills and produce high-quality work. Through practical exercises, expert mentorship, and real-world projects, participants gain a deep understanding of industry standards and develop a portfolio of their own. These masterclasses are designed to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and help individuals achieve their artistic goals.
Creatives in Film MeetUps
Creatives in Film Meetups foster collaboration and professional growth within the local film community. Through regular networking events and workshops, filmmakers connect with peers, industry professionals, and potential collaborators. These events provide opportunities to discuss emerging trends, share insights, and explore new opportunities. By bringing together a diverse group of creatives, the network aims to strengthen the South Florida film industry and support the development of innovative projects.
Film Festival
South Florida's premier event for emerging filmmakers. The Arts Acelerator Film Festival is designed to identify and promote local talent, connect them with industry professionals, and build their skills with professional development workshops.
The festival features two exciting tracks:
- A regional filmmaking competition where the winning films are compiled into a feature-length Florida Filmmaker Showcase for distribution.
- The 48-Hour Film Project, a fast-paced challenge where filmmakers create short films from concept to completion in just 48 hours.
Casting & Networking MeetUps
The Casting and Networking Meetup Events are designed to connect actors and filmmakers to help them form teams for the 48 Hour Film Project or other projects. Actors perform one-minute monologues to showcase their talent, and then creatives connect and network afterward. If you're a filmmaker looking to cast your next project, this event is for you.
